About Sergeant Major Y. Ejzensmidt
Born in Melbourne, Australia, and raised in a Chabad family, Yossi sought a change after completing his first year at Yeshiva at the age of 18. Accordingly, Yossi decided to make Aliyah and join the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In 2005, Yossi enlisted in the Paratroopers Brigade 101 and subsequently participated in the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Upon completing three years of active duty in 2009, he transitioned to the reserves, got married, and fully integrated into Israeli life.
In 2020, Yossi relocated to Miami with his wife and three children, believing his responsibilities with the reserve unit had concluded. However, following the devastating events of October 7th, Yossi rejoined his unit, returning to Israel three days later. Yossi's tour of duty lasted four months, with the latter two months spent in Khan Yunis.
